Today
we made it to Banff, only about 50 miles from Lake Louise. We're
no longer on the Icefields Parkway, but Trans-Can provided a beautiful
view of the surrounding mountains. It was a great travel day, but
although sunny, a definite haze is still in the air from all the
forest fires raging around this area and in Montana.

Banff
is a really cute little town with its 2 star attractions in my book
being the two mountains that we are parked between while here. Cascade
Mountain holds court at the forefront of their main street and dominates
the view from that part of town.

Mount
Rundle provides an ever-fascinating show of color changes as it
shows off its many levels of growth and acquired power. Isn't he
gorgeous? I was parked directly across the street from him during
our stay at Tunnel Mt. Campground.

This
big guy is on the other side of our campsite. I never did find out
his name.

This
is Banff Springs Hotel - quite a place, eh?
You can really see how smokey it was that day from the forest fires. |
