As a day
trip from Banff, we drove back down the Bow Valley Parkway to Johnston
Canyon. I'd seen pictures of its natural paths and walkways hugging
the canyon walls with the promise of a waterfall at the end, so
I was convinced this was a must-see stop while in Banff.

I
was right - the walk through the canyon is perfectly carved by powerful
water streams.

Mom couldn't walk the entire length as so much was steeply uphill,
but she said she loved sitting on the bench listening to the sound
of the rushing water and talking to the trees.

At
the end, you can enter a cave (to the far right in this pic), and
be exposed to the water spray as you emerge on the other side. That
was really a great path and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

I
am really enjoying Canada more on the trip back than I did on the
way to Alaska. The Canadian Rockies are really a beautiful force
to be reckoned with and I feel so unbelievably fortunate to have
been treated to such an unexpected bonus - it is so much more than
just the way to Alaska.
