Today
was a much better day weatherwise, so we drove to one of the area's
most beautiful lakes with a picnic lunch in tow. Maligne Lake was
so named by an early Catholic priest who called it "wicked"
after crossing it. I laughed and thought "leave it to the Catholics
to believe something so beautiful was wicked."

It
was wickedly beautiful though - it's a large lake with a very unique
cool jade green color of different hues depending on the way the
sun shines on it.

When
we arrived, we saw a deer swimming across the lake (something
I've certainly never seen before) and several on the beach as
we docked. Nothing could have made me feel more welcome or connect
me more quickly to the spirit of Spirit Island. |

The
cruise took us to Spirit Island, a truly enchanting spot that some
believe captures the true spirit of the Canadian Rockies lakes.
I certainly couldn't argue with them.

| Can
you believe the views coming down this hill?? |
