I was
finally able to tear myself away from the beautiful view from home
and explored the town a little. I enjoyed strolling down the harbor
and one morning I had coffee on one of the boats with a captain
and his partner I had been introduced to by a Texas native I had
met at Mineral Creek Canyon.

It
was fun visiting with them hearing of their lives split between
their winter homes in Phoenix and Arkansas and the passion for the
fishing charters they run here in Valdez in the summer.

I
met some people who were on this cruise ship but I was not jealous
of their schedule. They could not stop long enough to really enjoy
the sights available in this beautiful port.

Little
did I know when I went grocery shopping that I would be greeted
by eagles flying around the parking lot. |

I
could not get over it and I started calling to people, "Look,
look, look at the eagles!!!" Of course, they were locals
and were used to seeing eagles in the sky and even in the grocery
store parking lot and they got a bigger kick out of me and my
excited accent than about the eagles. I was so glad I had my
camera and got some pictures, but no way they can capture what
those regal birds look and feel like when you see them so close
overhead. |
