| It
took two ferry rides to get to Orcas Island in the San Juans, where
we drove up to Mt. Constitution, the highest point in this island
chain at 2,409 feet. There's no way to describe the beauty of this
view - to say stunning is a gross understatement. |
|
|
| From
there you can climb the stairs of an old fire watch tower that looks
like a tiny castle. The treasure of the view from there includes the
sparkling Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges where Mount Rainier
and Mount Baker poke their majestic heads out. The San Juan Islands,
the Canadian Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island all lay like precious
jewels resting on the velvet blue of Puget Sound. |

| This
was the view from a lodge on the island where we ate lunch. |
