I was very excited to be changing locations, even though it's only 15 miles from where I've been since December. But the weather is getting consistently nicer and it's time I start exploring other areas as I work on my new site (www.MaliasMiles.com). Emigrant Lake is a really nice county park with a small new RV campground right on the lake. Every site offers great views of the lake and mountains. It's nice to be somewhere more out in the open with greater space between sites where the stars and moon are better visible. Once again I was reminded that one of the things I treasure most about RVing is always having the comfort and familiarity of home while being able to change my backyard view whenever I have the urge.
This is my current view looking out from my RV door. I just love having a lake as my backyard! This is a GREAT bird watching area and that's always one of my favorite nature shows. I've watched ospreys hover attentively high above the lake, then dive-bomb into the water, most of the time emerging carrying fish in their claws celebrating with a victory cry as they fly over my house.

The water is mirror-like calm in the early morning, and the low whispy clouds still hanging low on the mountains are some of my favorite things to see to wake me up.

However, my neighbors tell me this is a popular lake for water skiing in the late summer, so the quiet doesn't last. I was also surprised to hear that the temperatures reach into the 100's in August. I'm really ready for some warmer weather about now. It feels like it's been forever since I've been comfortable without at least a sweater.

It took me a while, but I finally got the satellite up & running.
This is the view of my house from the upper tier of sites.
I moved here on Thursday, but I didn't get online until Friday afternoon. Even though I thought I had everything right, I just couldn't even get a hint of a signal. I was having fits making sure I had the right coordinates and settings again & again, adjusting, sweeping, adjusting again, sweeping again, until I was dizzy. The Align-A-Site was happy and all its bubbles were level and I still was getting nothing on the OPI meter. Only my aggravation had reached peak level, so I rechecked all the connections again before I gave in to the temptation to toss the whole kit & kaboodle in the lake. That's when I realized I had crossed the in/out wires going into the modem. As soon as that was fixed, I got a signal right where I was without even moving it a bit. Like most other things in life, it's amazing how well things work when the wires aren't crossed!
A nice walk beside Emigrant Lake
